Wimmera Health Care Group celebrated International Volunteers Day by hosting an afternoon tea to recognise its volunteers on Monday.

Acting chief executive Mark Knights said the organisation held volunteers in high regard.

"We have 85 registered individual volunteers at Wimmera Health Care Group and countless volunteers through associations with our supporting groups such as auxiliaries and a range of other fundraising groups," Mr Knights said.

"We have experienced a lot of growth in volunteer hours at Wimmera Health Care Group and that can only lead to better outcomes and experiences for our patients and clients."

Mr Knights made special mention of one volunteer who was present, Una Faux, who was one of three state finalists in the Inaugural Public Sector Aged Care Volunteer Award in September 2016.

"Even though Una didn't win the final Award, we congratulate her on an outstanding achievement. Thank you Una and everyone else who contribute so willingly to Wimmera Health Care Group," he said.
