In August 2024, we proudly celebrate 150 years of unwavering dedication, care and compassion for our community, provided through Horsham’s Wimmera Base Hospital. 

From its beginnings as the Horsham District Hospital in 1874, to becoming the Wimmera Base Hospital, and later forming part of Wimmera Health Care Group and now Grampians Health - a lot has changed over the years, but what has always remained is the care and service provided to the Horsham community and the broader Wimmera region. 

Today, the Wimmera Base Hospital boasts an incredible team of over 1100 staff, dedicated to quality patient care and community health.

You can contribute to our celebration!

We want to hear from staff members, volunteers, board members, auxiliary members and patients who have a good story to tell or a memory to share. We are also putting a call out for old photos from different eras, especially prior to the 1970s.

Whether you were born here, worked here, or have an ancestor who was a staff member here in days gone by – we are asking the community to email us and share your stories and/or photos.

Sign our Memory Book

As we celebrate 150 years of the Wimmera Base Hospital, we invite staff and the community to contribute to our Memory Book. Your experiences, memories and heartfelt reflections make up the rich history of the hospital.

The book will be circulated to various departments of the hospital and will also be made available in community spaces over the next few months. Please take a moment to write in or sign our Memory Book and be part of this momentous occasion. 

The book will be available at the following places for community members to sign:

• September 9-15: Ladies Auxiliary Opshop, 25A Darlot St, Horsham
• September 16-2: Horsham Library, 28 McLachlan St, Horsham
• October 4: Horsham Plaza, 36 Darlot St, Horsham

Healthcare Harrie colouring competition

Our Healthcare Harrie colouring competition is now closed.

Thank you to all the local primary schools, kindergartens and early education centres for taking part. Winners will be announced soon, and a public display of select entries will be available for the community to view in September.
