Wimmera Health Care Group has received two grants from Freemasons Foundation Victoria for the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

Secretary of Freemasons Wimmera Lodge John McTaggart said they applied on behalf of Wimmera Health Care Group and were thrilled to be successful in both applications from the Freemasons Foundation Victoria, totalling $150,000.

"We lodged one application for $50,000 and another one for $100,000 to go towards the Wimmera Cancer Centre," Mr McTaggart said.

"It was an honour to announce this week that we will be donating $150,000 towards the cancer centre."

The initial conversations around supporting the Wimmera Cancer Centre started in 2016 when John McRoberts was the master of lodge.

"Cancer affects everybody and John really saw a need for this project," Mr McTaggart said.

"He was the liaison between the lodge and the Wimmera Health Care Group Board of Management."

Since November 2014, Freemasons Foundation Victoria has contributed over $4.6 million in supporting community organisations.

"Our organisation has a rich history investing in communities and it’s nice to be able to support our local community."

"It’s such a great opportunity to be able to assist in providing a facility that will service not only Horsham but the entire district."
