The Wimmera Health Care Group (WHCG) in Horsham, comprising the Horsham and Dimboola hospital campuses, will be one of the first sites to go live in a proposed expansion of Core Medical Solutions’ BOSSnet clinical information system across the entire Grampians Rural Health Alliance (GRHA) footprint in Victoria.

The installation at WHCG is an expansion of the BOSSnet installation at Ballarat Health Services, which has used BOSSnet since 2009. The installation will create unprecedented access to data for clinical staff at both sites.
Core Medical Solutions Managing Director Dr Rohan Ward said BOSSnet will be used by WHCG to create a single view of a patient’s record across both sites. It will also allow both health services to continue to maintain control of their respective data, whilst still sharing that data to all other sites.
“Clinical staff will have access to a comprehensive, unified view of patient records across all sites including all of their radiology and pathology results, other results and clinical data sources,” stated Dr Ward.
“The benefits of instant access include increasing efficiency and removing the need to store and retrieve huge amounts of paper records.”
Chris Scott, CEO of Wimmera Health Care Group said that the expansion to Horsham supports improved regional health outcomes by providing technology, application and communications solutions to connect the region’s health services.
“This development connects health professionals to best serve patients in the rural and regional communities we serve. The technology empowers our staff to deliver a higher quality of service.”
Clinical staff will be able to use BOSSnet as their single patient view with only one login to view the entire record and can do so at any desktop computer, tablet or other mobile device using the BOSSnet Mobile App.
Documentation can be entered electronically using the BOSSnet eForms functionality. The many other benefits include electronic orders and referrals, image sharing, and reviewing and recording patient alerts.
“The beauty of BOSSnet is it can be implemented without having to first replace or modify their existing patient administration systems,” Dr Ward said.
“The primary benefit is significantly improved access to data for clinical staff which can only help to improve patient care. This is the primary reason we created BOSSnet,” added Dr Ward.
