Sub Acute facility receives blessing

The new Wyuna Sub-Acute rehabilitation unit at the Wimmera Health Care Group’s Horsham campus received a blessing at a dedication service held in the facility on Thursday, January 8.

Pastor Susan Hobbs and Reverend Linley Liersch officiated at the service representing the Horsham Christian Ministers Association. Staff and patients attended the service.

Wimmera Health Care Group Chief Executive Chris Scott said he was very excited about the new state-of-the-art rehabilitation unit. “The benefits that the facility will provide to the health outcomes of communities of the Wimmera and Southern Mallee will be significant” said Mr Scott.  “The facility would increase the capacity of the Wimmera Health Care Group to transition patients from a hospital stay and return to the community and aims to restore functional capacity for people with ongoing complex care needs.”

The State Governments $10million allocation of Commonwealth funding to Wimmera Health Care Group to undertake the capital development of the Sub-Acute Unit under a National Partnership Agreement on Improving Public Hospital Health Services has culminated in this important resource.

The facility was officially opened in October 2014 with patients making a smooth transition into the Unit in December.

After the dedication ceremony a morning tea was held for guests.
