SERVICE DESCRIPTION / OVERVIEW
The Movement Disorder Nurse provides specialist nursing care for people living with movement disorders (such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, PSP, MSA).
The Movement Disorder Nurse sees anyone who has a movement disorder diagnosis, regardless of where this may be – at home, in ED or hospital, or in residential aged care.
We can also provide information and support about movement disorders and can link the person in with appropriate services.
The Movement Disorder Nurse can be accessed at any stage through the disease – from being newly diagnosed through to advanced disease progression.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Movement Disorder Nurse is available Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm.

There are no fees for this service.

ELIGIBILITY
Anyone over the age of 18 years old with a diagnosed movement disorder who lives in any of the above service areas. The person is required to have a diagnosis of a Movement Disorder. Please specify the diagnosis and any specialist/s that are involved in the individual’s care. Anyone can make a referral to the Movement Disorder Nurse:
-          The individual with a movement disorder
-          Residential care staff
-          GPs
-          Hospital staff
-          The person’s neurologist or specialist
-          The person’s family
