The Speech Pathology Department at Wimmera Health Care Group comprises of a team of six professionals. We focus on the needs of our clients in order to improve and maintain the quality of life for all individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties.
We provide services to people who live in the Wimmera region. Wimmera Health Care Group provides services at the hospital including acute and sub-acute rehabilitation, community health services, home services and residential care facilities.
Provides assessment, intervention and management services for people who have communication or swallowing problems. The Speech Pathology Department run individual and group therapy sessions for children or adults with difficulties in the areas of:
- Language (understanding or expression)
Outreach services are also provided at the Dimboola campus once per week.
8.30am - 5pm, Mon - Fri. Appointment required.
Contact our Allied Health Intake Worker to book your first initial assessment.
Two assessment appointments will be scheduled with a clinician. Please be aware that there are waiting times for assessments and for ongoing therapy.
All Speech Pathology referrals should be directed to Allied Health Intake on 03 5381 9333.
Community Health Services charge a fee.
Fees at Wimmera Health Care Group- Community Health are consistent with all other community health services across the state and include a tiered fee approach based on income and a person's ability to pay.
Inpatients of any age, Community Health Adults 18+ and Community Health Children prior to school entry, who:
- Present with a specific communication and/or a feeding/swallowing difficulty
- Are not currently accessing or deemed eligible for other services which are funded to provide speech pathology support e.g Early Childhood Early Intervention (NDIS).
